It's been massively refactored, all but rewritten, object-oriented, and usable as a CGI script, module, or indeed subclassed.Rael today released the first alpha version of the new Blosxom 3 system (announcement). As he warns, "It is by no means anywhere near fully baked and should not be considered in any way, shape, or form, to be ready for deployment." This is fair warning; alpha versions are pre-releases and should only be used in a testing environment. However a few users have already installed v.3 and are reporting successful installations and usage, particularly on MacOS X.
This is great news for Blosxom moving forward! The next big project will be for plugin authors to decide whether or not to port their plugins to v.3. You can download this first alpha version on the Blosxom Prime here or locally here.
Many thanks to Rael for his time and dedication to the Blosxom community!
